Drivers in New Jersey, nation still seeing lower gas prices
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Drivers in New Jersey and around the nation are seeing lower prices at the pump yet again ahead of one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.42, down four cents from a week ago. Drivers were paying $2.49 a gallon a year ago at this time.
The national average gas price Friday was $2.35 a gallon, also down four cents from last week. Last year at this time, drivers were paying $2.48 a gallon.
Analysts say cheaper gas prices, strong economic growth and robust consumer spending are expected to induce a record number of Americans to travel during the year-end holiday period.
