Here’s a list of some of the healthy classes offered this week at local hospitals:

Tuesday, Oct. 2

n Breast Cancer Survivor’s Dinner - Breast Cancer Survivors, who received care at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, are invited to attend this fun-filled evening of celebration. Registration is required.

Location: New Baptist Church, 610 28th St., Huntington.

n Sibling Class - Future big brothers and sisters can learn to help care for the new baby.

n Free Diabetic Foot Screenings - Do you suffer from lack of sensation, a feeling of “pins and needles,” or pain in your feet? If you have diabetes, regular foot screenings are important. Learn your risks at these free screenings.

n Surgical Weight-Control Seminar - This free seminar is for adults considering weight-control surgery options. Practical, forthright information will be offered about what to expect before, during and after surgery. Patients will also receive information to assist with their ongoing weight-control success.

Location: Wellness Center aerobics room on the first floor of St. Mary’s Regional Heart Institute.

n Free Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic - The flu vaccine is free and available for adults 18 and older. The vaccine may not be given to those with a severe egg allergy.

Location: St. Mary’s Center for Education, 2853 Fifth Ave., Huntington (Use 28th and 29th Street entrances to the center), St. Mary’s Family Care Center-Hurricane, 147 Willow Tree Way, Hurricane.

n Childbirth Class - Soon-to-be parents can learn the basics of what to expect from labor, delivery and their hospital stay following childbirth. This day-long class is offered free of charge. Registration is required.

n Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group - The Cabell Huntington Hospital Senior Services Department invites anyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease as a patient, caregiver or family member to participate in this monthly support group focused on coping with the disease.
