Face of city police hanging it up
For years, his face, his calm accuracy and his uniform have been familiar to Fort Wayne residents.
But on the morning of June 10, Michael Joyner, Fort Wayne Police Department’s public information officer, will sign out of the department for the last time and begin a new life.
“Twenty-four years and no regrets,” Joyner, 61, said as he reflected on his life and career in a recent interview with The Journal Gazette.
Since 2002, Joyner has been the face of the department when media showed up at shootings and homicides, fatal crashes and other incidents, providing official details police could immediately release.
