10 San Antonio restaurants to eat crawfish this season
It’s time for San Antonio to get its hands dirty, the delicious Cajun way.
Area restaurants, bars and seafood markets are starting to put crawfish, transported live straight from the Louisiana bayou, on the menu.
“Generally, they start getting ready after the Super Bowl, but it usually all depends on the weather patterns in the fall and winter,” said Rick Groomer of Groomer’s Seafood. “All signs indicate that this will be a bigger season than normal, and the big crawfish will start showing up in March.”
Groomer’s takes pre-orders on Mondays and Tuesdays for live Friday pickups for sacks that weight about 34 pounds on average. Live crawfish started making its debut in select San Antonio H-E-B stores Saturday, and company officials said that crawfish events are currently being planned to run through May.
