NASCAR: Xfinity Series practice notes from Richmond Raceway
Cole Custer led a final Xfinity practice that featured 10 playoff drivers in the top 12 positions.
Custer put down a lap of 119.798 mph, edging fellow postseason competitor Daniel Hemric’s 119.638. Custer was second in the first session at 120.681, trailing Christopher Bell’s 120.854.
Emporia native Ellott Sadler, who announced this would be his final season of full-time NASCAR racing, was 14th (119.058) and eighth (117.981) in the two sessions.
Sadler’s car owner, two-time Xfinity Series champion Dale Earnhardt Jr., put down a solid lap to place fifth (120.283) in the first session. He was 16th (116.949) in the final session. This is Earnhardt’s only NASCAR race this season after stepping away from full-time competition after last season.
