Meal planned in Lake City for people who are less fortunate
LAKE CITY, S.C. – A Lake City father and daughter are once again planning to feed people who are less fortunate in the Pee Dee.
From noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Tharrington “Notch” Harris and Atequa Harris will provide a free meal and clothing to people at 600 Davis St. in Lake City. The father-daughter duo fed nearly 100 people earlier this year on Labor Day in Lake City.
“We’ll have entertainment, music where they can eat and talk and try on any clothes they want,” Notch Harris said. “It’s free. They can get whatever they want.”
Notch Harris said a lot of clothes and food have been donated for Sunday’s event. People are welcome to drop in at the Lake City location, which is a store operated by Notch, anytime during the allotted hours on Sunday.
“Once we get everything started, we’ll box up enough and take to Kingstree,” Harris said. “And if that’s not enough, we’ll come back and get some more.”
He said he had heard there is large need in Kingstree, as well as other parts of the Pee Dee.
While Sunday’s event is his daughter’s idea, Harris said, he is supporting her. The two plan to host similar events every year.
