Girls Saved from Near Drowning in Acton
ACTON -- Lifeguards pulled a 6-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl from the water at NARA Park in Acton Friday after they nearly drowned, and they had to revive one of the girls using CPR, according to a press release.
The 7-year-old girl who required CPR appeared to be recovering well, according to Town Manager John Mangiaratti.
“CPR was successful and she was alert and engaged in conversation while she was being transported to Children’s Hospital in Boston by Acton Fire Department Paramedics,” Mangiaratti said in a press release.
The 6-year-old did not require CPR after she was pulled from the water. She was taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital and later released, according to a press release.
Mangiaratti praised both the lifeguards at the beach and the dispatchers, firefighters and police who handled a 911 call reporting the incident about 3:30 p.m.
“The Recreation Department lifeguards used their training to quickly react and take life-saving actions,” Mangiaratti said. “It was truly a team effort by all employees involved and I am thankful for their commitment and dedication to safety.”
