Cuban doctor accused of sexual abuse in Brazil
SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil police say they have asked prosecutors to file charges against a Cuban doctor who allegedly sexually abused four pregnant women under his care in the city of Luziania.
Luziania police inspector Dilamar de Castro says the four women told her the doctor fondled them while examining them in his office.
She says the 45-year-old doctor will only be jailed if prosecutors file charges against him.
He was one of 18 foreign doctors working in Luziania as part of the federal government’s “More Doctors” program that aims to get more physicians working in areas where doctors and medical services are scarce.
Some 7,000 Cuban doctors are participating in the program.
