Carole Hartwig, 85, Horicon

Carole A. Hartwig, 85, Horicon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Matthews of Horicon in Horicon.

Carole was born the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Simon) Smith on Feb. 21, 1934. She was a graduate of Mayville High School. Carole worked as a legal secretary for the Schellpfeffer Law Offices in Mayville. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Hartwig on Oct. 9, 1982, in Mayville. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. In her spare time, Carole enjoyed bingo and gaming trips with her husband. She also loved to cook and bake, especially at the holidays where she baked countless varieties of cookies for her family. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing and taking care of her flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Horicon; her children, Robert (Lori) Hartwig IV of Horicon and Sandra Alvarado of Waupun; her nine grandchildren, Sarah Limberg, Cassandra (Steven) Steffes, Meghan (Frank) Klapper, Shayley Ceman, Thomas (Tresha) Corso, Crystal (Jeff) Sturycz, Kelly (Dave) Teska, Katie Corso, Robert (Brandi) Hartwig, and Daniel (Jessica) Davis; her 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Dianne ‘Patsy’ Chapman of Juneau, Donald Kliefoth of Mayville, and Raymond W. (Carol) Smith of Juneau; her brother-in-law, Ed Marshall of Oconomowoc; and sister-in-law, Mickey Kliefoth of Mayville. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Clara Marshall; brothers, Gerald Kliefoth and Duane Simon; brother-in-law, Wayne Chapman; and sister-in-law, Sandra Kliefoth.

A funeral service will take place Thursday, May 23, at noon at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
