Schools closed as search continues in Mansfield area for fugitive wanted for threatening President Donald Trump

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Several schools in the Mansfield area were closed Monday and Tuesday as law enforcement agencies continue to look for a Pennsylvania man who has eluded federal agents for three months, according to the Mansfield post of the State Highway Patrol.

Madison Local Schools near Mansfield closed Monday and Tuesday as a safety precaution, as well as Madison Adult Education.

Lucas Local Schools and St. Mary’s of the Snow Catholic School in Mansfield were also closed Monday and Tuesday, according to school officials. 

Shawn Christy, 27, stole a truck Sunday from the area of McAdoo, Pennsylvania, where he lives, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He crashed around 4:45 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 71 in the Mansfield area, from which he fled on foot and has not been located by law enforcement, the U.S. Marshals said. 

Christy, who should be considered armed and dangerous, has multiple arrest warrants in Pennsylvania for burglary, probation violations and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He has also threatened to use “full lethal force on any law enforcement officer that tries to detain me.”

A federal warrant was issued June 19 for Christy in connection to Facebook threats to the Northamption County district attorney, stating, “Keep it up Morganelli, I promise I’ll put a bullet in your head as soon as I put one in the head of President Donald J. Trump.” 

The U.S. Marshals, FBI and U.S. Secret Service and searching for Christy. A cash award of up to $20,000 is offered for information leading to Christy’s arrest, the U.S. Marshals said. All information will be considered confidential. 

“If you see Christy, call the authorities immediately,” supervisory deputy Anne Murphy of the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Christy is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 160 pounds, Murphy said. He has a light complexion with a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short dark blonde hair and a beard. He speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist, Murphy said.
