December 6, 2018

NORFOLK - McPherson County High School has won the state one act play production championships in Class D2 Wednesday.

McPherson won with their performance of “Dark Road.”

St. Edward got runner up with their performance of “Captain Bree and her Lady Pirates.” Coach Chase King said it’s been 21 years since the school has been to state.

“We put in a lot of work in this play, and a lot of dedication from these kids and that’s what showed up on stage today. We saw dedication, and love and care and having fun and an appreciation of the arts.”

King said at St. Edward they practice on a tarp in the gym, so performing in the Johnny Carson Theatre is really exciting.

Shickley won outstanding technical crew, Alias Schumacher of St. Edward won outstanding male performer and Hollianna Watson of McPherson won outstanding female performer.

The state competition runs through Friday.
