Treasury Bond Prices Rise a Bit
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were slightly higher at midday.
The price of the Treasury’s main 30-year bond was up 1-16 point, or 62 1/2 cents per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield slipped to 5.96 percent from 5.97 percent late Tuesday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills slipped to 5.10 percent as the discount lost 0.01 percentage point to 4.98 percent. Six-month yields dropped to 5.35 percent as the discount fell 0.01 percentage point to 5.15 percent. One-year yields were quoted at 5.42 percent as the discount dropped 0.01 percentage point to 5.15 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
