Shooting in Perry leaves woman hospitalized Monday, police asking for help locating suspect

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident in Perry early Monday morning, which left one woman hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Deputies responded to a residence in Perry on Monday morning after receiving a 911 call about a woman injured in a shooting, according to a release.

Upon arrival, investigators reported seeing the female victim sitting in the front yard with a gunshot wound to her shoulder.

She told deputies she was driving her car through the intersection of Rainbow Drive and Honey Suckle Trail around 2:21 a.m. Monday, when someone starting firing multiple shots at her, the release states.

The victim was unable to identify any suspects and was unsure why someone would shoot at her, police said.

Investigators located five gunshot holes to the victim’s vehicle and were able to locate multiple spent shell casings on Rainbow Drive.

EMS was called to the scene to take the victim to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
