App helps Pee Dee real estate agents stay safe

August 2, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. — The Pee Dee Realtor Association unveiled a new app this summer designed to help protect and inform its agents.

FOREWARN, a leading provider of real-time information solutions for real estate agents, is an application that analyzes billions of data points and provides users the ability to mitigate risks by verifying identities using just a phone number.

The program, which is available both online and through a mobile app, allows Realtors to search criminal histories and validate information provided by potential clients, such as financial and asset information.

Jennifer King, CEO of the Pee Dee Realtor Association, said the goal of the app is to give Realtors as much information as possible ahead of time.

“For us, their safety is paramount,” King said. “It’s just another tool in their arsenal that they can use as backup. It doesn’t cost them to take those extra few seconds to search and then make a decision whether they want to take someone else with them to the meeting, just to give them that extra sense of security.”

The Pee Dee Realtor Association was the first in South Carolina to take on the FOREWARN technology.

The service was purchased by the association and is being offered free to its member agents.

“All of this information that is pulled is public record,” King said. “FOREWARN is just a powerful tool to take that information and put it at the fingertips of our Realtors. The overwhelming response has been positive.”

James Reilly, president of FOREWARN, said the company hopes to provide a safer experience for Realtors.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to provide this valuable safety tool to the member agents of the Realtor Association of the Greater Pee Dee,” Reilly said. “The growing adoption of FOREWARN by associations across the country means greater obstacles for the bad actors that wish to prey on this industry.”

Cindy Fletcher, a Realtor with the association, said the app has been helpful to her as she plans to meet with clients.

“I want to thank [the Realtor association] for this app,” Fletcher said. “It was very accurate and I look forward to using it often.”
