Man charged with trafficking in meth after traffic stop
IRONTON: The following information was compiled from Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reports:
DRUG ARREST: Following a traffic stop, John Collins, 28, of New Lebanon, Ohio, was charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs (meth and marijuana) and one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. He was arrested and transported to jail. Authorities recovered 9.6 grams of suspected meth and a .38 caliber revolver.
BURGLARY: A 59-year-old South Point area woman reported last month that someone broke into a home and stole items valued at $13,400, including several televisions, a washer and dryer, two tables, a laptop computer, a printer, a Sawsall, a chainsaw, a propane tank and lawn equipment and copper piping.
AGGRAVATED BURGLARY: A sheriff’s deputy arrested Charles A. May, 39, of Township Road 1195, South Point, on a charge of aggravated burglary and transported him to jail.
BURGLARY: Following a call about a man trying to break into his apartment, sheriff’s deputies arrested Joshua S. Cremeans, 37, of County Road 1, South Point, on a charge of burglary and transported him to jail.
THEFT: A Lawrence Township area woman reported last week that someone took jewelry valued at $15,000 from her residence.
BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 52-year-old South Point area woman reported last week that someone broke into storage containers. Jewelry, a Nintendo Wii, a television, a computer and a karaoke system with two speakers and a mixer board were reported stolen. The items were valued at $4,100.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Responding to a call about a domestic dispute, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Christopher J. Douglas, 34, of County Road 1, South Point, on charges of domestic violence and resisting arrest. Douglas had a prior arrest for domestic violence, according to the report.
POSSESSION OF DRUGS: Following a call about a domestic dispute, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Cameron L. Jones, 24, of Township Road 276N, South Point on a charge of possession of drugs and transported him to jail.
DRUG POSSESSION: Following a traffic stop, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Mary K. Groves, 38, of the 900 block of North 5th Street, Ironton, on a charge of possession of drugs and transported her to jail.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: A 25-year-old Proctorville area woman reported last week that her boyfriend pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the back and hit her with a wooden handle. A sheriff’s deputy arrested a 26-year-old Proctorville area man on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
