SOUTH HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — A school bus carrying high school students collided with a tractor-trailer hauling sand in New Jersey, leaving a number of students injured. An official says none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

Kingsway Regional School District Superintendent James Lavender tells the Courier Post the crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. Students from Gloucester County Institute of Technology and both drivers were taken to hospitals for evaluation and treatment.

He says the injuries include neck sprains, lacerations and a possible broken leg.

He says the bus was turning left on a road in rural South Harrison when the tractor-trailer struck the rear quarter panel of the bus. The tractor-trailer then overturned.

South Harrison police are at the scene and couldn’t comment. No other details were available.
