LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Rchel Hemmer scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as No. 10 Stanford defeated UCLA 71-54 Thursday night to gain a first-place tie in the Pacific- 10.
Stanford (18-5 overall, 9-3 Pac-10) is tied with Southern Cal for the conference lead.
Christy Hedgpeth and Chris MacMurdo added 12 each for the Cardinal.
UCLA’s Natalie Williams, the nation’s leading rebounder, recorded her 16th double-double in 17 games, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Nicole Anderson added 12 points, four assists and four steals.
The Bruins (10-11, 5-7) shot 35 percent (25 of 71) from the field to 50 percent (30 of 60) for Stanford. The Cardinal also held a 47-34 rebounding advantage.
