Girls basketball: Kingwood Park’s Byrd named District 20-5A MVP

Kingwood Park’s Allie Byrd was named the District 20-5A Most Valuable Player.

The senior forward helped the Lady Panthers finish 24-11 and reach the playoffs.

In her senior season, Byrd averaged 20.1 points per game, 18.1 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game and 3.5 steals per game.

Byrd also scored her 2,000th career point this season in a district game against Willis. Byrd finished her basketball career at K-Park with 2,218 career points and 1,707 rebounds.

Katey Searcy and Shelby Rollo were named to the district’s first team.

Searcy averaged 8.4 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game and 2.8 steals per game her senior season.

Shelby Rollo averaged 6.8 points per game with 2.9 rebounds per game this season.

Chloe Gresham was named to the second team for the Lady Panthers.

Kaitlyn Goulder, Kaylin Daniel and Aliyah Bustamante earned honorable mention honor for K-Park.
