FLORENCE, S.C. – Three men are in custody on charges from a shooting in Timmonsville on Aug. 25 that killed a 12-year-old girl.
Michael Christian Barclay, 31, of Timmonsville was arrested Friday morning in Brooklyn, N.Y., by officers with the New York City Police Department Warrants Division, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. Barclay is accused of shooting the victim as she was running for cover.
Florence County investigators have arrested Jimmy Lee Hampton Jr., 28, of Florence and Demonta Kabora Hickson, 24, of Timmonsville.
Barclay, Hampton and Hickson are each charged with one count of murder.
The shooting was originally being handled by the Timmonsville Police Department. The department requested on Aug. 29 that the investigation be taken over by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Hickson and Hampton are being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a hearing before a circuit court judge. Barclay will undergo extradition back to Florence County from New York to face the charge.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming, according to the sheriff’s office.
