W.Va. woman gets 2 consecutive life terms in sons’ deaths
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia woman convicted of setting fires that killed her two young sons has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison without the chance for parole.
The Journal reports 30-year-old Molly Jo Delgado of Martinsburg was sentenced Wednesday in Berkeley County Circuit Court. A jury earlier recommended no parole for Delgado, who pleaded no contest last month to two first-degree murder counts.
According to a criminal complaint, Delgado lit fires on the beds of 5-year-old Justin Delgado and 3-year-old Delmar Delgado in January 2017, locked their door from the outside and left.
Circuit Judge Laura Faircloth noted Delgado set fires to the boys’ bedspreads at different times.
