Robin Leach, host of ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,’ has died

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” host Robin Leach has died.

The British native, whose signature catch phrase was “champagne wishes and caviar dreams” passed away Thursday of a stroke at age 76, The Washington Post reported.

He began his career as the youngest page one editor at The Daily Mail. In 1963, Leach moved to the United States, landing gigs at several newspapers, magazines and TV shows.

His big break came in 1984 when “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” hit syndication. The show focused on the lavish and extravagant lifestyles of celebrities and millionaires, taking viewers inside their mansions or on ride on their yachts at the height of the wealth-obsessed 1980s.

The show lasted until 1995, and Leach remained in the public eye as host of various TV specials and as a gossip columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
