Christmas in the Woods

PONCA — Join Ponca State Park on Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22 for a fun-filled day with ‘winter-ful’ activities for the whole family. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with wintertime friends. When it gets cold outside, exciting things happen in the sky. Rain turns to unique snowflakes that can be measured, just like the rainfall in the summer months. Come make a helpful winter friend to assist you in measuring how much snow falls.

At 11:30 a.m. is festive cupcake decorations. Come create warm memories in the cold of winter by decorating your own holiday cupcakes. They will taste as amazing as they look.

From 1 to 2 p.m. is the winter wonderland photos. Don’t be a Grinch this season and join in on the photo fun with family and friends. Winter props and costumes will be available. The photographer will email photos via wetran

Winter time is filled with sledding. snowball fights, snowflakes and hot cocoa. While it might be a fun time for us, animals can sometimes have a hard time finding food and staying warm. Learn how to make wildlife treats at 3 p.m. Squirrel cookies, pinecone snacks and birdseed bundt cake will be made.

All activities will take place in the Ponca State Park Resource and Education Center. Some activities have a cost to join. For questions, call 402-750-2284.
