MCTC to honor memory of board member with scholarship
HUNTINGTON — Mountwest Community & Technical College will honor the memory of board member Susan Richardson, who died in 2017, with a new scholarship fund for culinary arts students.
The Mountwest Foundation board of Directors and the Mountwest Institutional Board of Governors, along with Richardson’s friends and family, have established the Susan Richardson Scholarship Fund, the school announced in a news release.
Richardson, who had a career in public accounting, was a constant supporter of Mountwest College.
After her retirement, she elected to pursue a culinary arts degree from the school, according to the release.
“Given her passion and dedication to our culinary arts program we find it fitting to establish this scholarship for culinary arts students. We will be forever grateful to Sue for her tireless efforts to Mountwest,” the release states.
“Sue was an inspiration. She was instrumental in the success of Mountwest and her legacy will live on. We are honored to offer this scholarship in her name,” Jim Wilkerson, executive director corporate and foundation relations, said in the release.
Mountwest’s mission is to prepare students for careers, civic responsibility and lifelong learning. For more information, visit www.mctc.edu.
