One killed in collision west of Scottsbluff
SCOTTSBLUFF — One person was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two car collision west of Scottsbluff.
According to State Patrol Sgt. Jamey Balthazor, the driver of a blue 2005 Dodge Neon, was southbound on County Road 19 and failed to yield the right of way in attempting to make a left hand turn into the eastbound lanes of Highway 26. The vehicle was struck by the driver of a white Ford sedan, traveling west on Highway 26.
The driver of the Neon was killed in the collision. According to scanner traffic, the driver of the white car suffered injuries and was transported to Regional West.
The crash occurred at about 4:14 p.m.
The identity of either driver was not available as of 9 p.m. The Star-Herald will update this story as additional details are released.
The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Scotts Bluff Rural Fire Department, and Mitchell Police Department also responded.
