No. 8 Purdue 81, Bowling Green 78

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Cindy Lamping had 27 points and seven assists Monday night as No. 8 Purdue held off a second-half rally and beat Bowling Green 81-78 in the championship game of the Boilermaker Classic.

Marquette beat Eastern Washington 64-58 for third place.

Lamping, the tourney most valuable player, hit 9 of 11 field goals and 8 of 10 free throws to lead the Boilermakers to their seventh victory without a loss this season.

Purdue took a 49-33 halftime lead, then withstood a rally in the second period. Bowling Green (3-3) was led by Lori Albers, who had 19 points before fouling out with 7:26 to go. Talita Scott added 15 points.

Jennifer Jacoby backed Lamping with 18 points and Tricia Cullop added 17 points for Purdue.
