Area fire departments respond to house fire outside of Juneau

July 9, 2018

JUNEAU -- No one was injured in a house fire on Highway W near Juneau on Sunday afternoon that was battled by multiple area fire departments.

Juneau Fire Chief Curt Ninmann said his department was called at 5 p.m. for a report of a house fire at W6477 Highway W, in the town of Oak Grove.

“Reports from Dodge County Dispatch were confirmed that there were flames showing and heavy smoke from the house,” Ninmann said.

Before Juneau units were in route, a box alarm was called for extra units from Beaver Dam, Burnett, Hustisford, Fox Lake, Reeseville, Mayville, Horicon, Kekoskee, Woodland and Waupun. EMS Units from Juneau, Horicon and Mayville responded for rehab of firefighters.

Juneau arrived on scene at 5:08 p.m, and crews proceeded to extinguish the fire.

“All incoming units were used for fire, RIT, overhaul and water shuttle operations,” Ninmann said.

The home sustained damage to the roof and ceilings. There is no cost estimate of damages, but the homeowners were displaced and have shelter arranged. Highway W, between Juneau and Highway A, was closed for 90 minutes and all crews cleared the scene at 6:46 p.m.
