Ill. man arrested in Ky. after weekend chase
COBDEN, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illnois man is free on bond after being accused in Kentucky of drunkenly leading authorities on a weekend high-speed chase.
WSIL-TV (http://bit.ly/13utCe5) reports 21-year-old Esmeraldo Morales-Carmona of Cobden was arrested early Saturday after the short pursuit that began when McCracken County deputies tried to stop a pickup truck they allege was speeding on U.S. 45.
Authorities say speeds during the pursuit reached more than 110 miles per hour before the truck’s transmission failed in nearby Graves County, and Morales-Carmona was arrested.
He was ticketed for speeding, fleeing or evading police, DUI, reckless driving, driving without a license, and driving a vehicle without proper registration.
Online court records don’t show whether he has an attorney. He does not have a listed Illinois telephone number.
