AMVETS post retires flags, plans sale

September 12, 2018

Watertown American Veterans Post #35 has been staying active in the community.

Members performed an official flag retirement ceremony at Aero Park Saturday during the Stand Tall and Remember BBQ Competition. Members of the post retired a number of American flags during the ceremony and were on hand to accept worn and tattered flags from members of the community so those flags could be properly retired.

AMVETS will conduct their fall rummage sale and brat fry at Riverside Park in the pavilion Friday through Sunday. Sale hours will be Friday, noon-7 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 7 a.m. through 3 p.m.

The rummage sale will include furniture, clothing, kitchen items and more. Members of the post will be on hand to assist shoppers and serve up brats and hamburgers.

All monies raised during the rummage sale and brat fry will go to support area veterans in need and community events.
