TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Jamel Gray scored 18 points to lead North Carolina A&T to a 75-74 victory over Bethune-Cookman in the final game of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

The Wildcats (12-15, 8-9) were unable to convert from the free-throw line, missing three crucial attempts down the stretch.

After trailing 41-30 at the half, the Aggies (10-16, 8-9) broke the Bethune-Cookman press and took the lead when guard Marcus Williams hit his first basket of the game with 12:14 left.

The Aggies got off to a 11-4 lead in the first four minutes. But the Wildcats fought back, managing a 16-4 run sparked by Tyronn White's jumper with 6:48 left in the half.

The Aggies struggled from the field in the first half, shooting just 39 percent and commiting nine turnovers.

Derick Powell scored 17 points for the Aggies and Kimani Stewart added 14.

The Wildcats were led by Derek Smith's 16 points. Roseki Jackson and Reggie Bellamy added 15 points each.

NCAT will play top-seeded South Carolina State in the semifinals Friday. South Carolina State defeated Florida A&M 79-59 in the third game.
