Tri County sprints to win in B Division

The Tri County Lady Trojans jumped all over Parkview Christian early Monday night and never let up.

The Lady Trojans, seeded second in the MUDECAS B Division, defeated seventh-seeded Parkview Christian 52-22 at the Truman Center in Beatrice.

With the win, Tri County advances to play sixth-seeded Palmyra in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Truman Center.

Tri County’s defense clamped down in the first quarter and they led Parkview Christian 7-0 after one. They extended their lead to 26-6 at half time.

They continued to lead 33-12 after three quarters, allowing them to coast to the 52-22 win.

Madison Freese led the way for Tri County with 14 points while Cassidy Kowalski had eight, Brianna Connelly had seven, Hannah Holtmeier had five, Shaylee Niemeyer, Hannah Strein and Alyssa Brown had four each and Kynlee Uher, Savannah Gerlach and Anna Schmidt had two each.

Parkview Christian was led by Calley Fulk’s 10 points while Abby Anderson had seven, Kennedy Cole had three and Asia Sunderman had two.

Parkview Christian will play Pawnee City at 5 p.m. Friday at the Truman Center.

Palmyra 30, Pawnee City 22

Sixth-seeded Palmyra upset third-seeded Pawnee City 30-22 Monday in the first round of the MUDECAS B Division.

Palmyra led 7-5 after the first quarter and 12-11 at half time.

The Lady Indians grabbed a 17-15 lead in the third quarter, but Palmyra outscored Pawnee City 15-5 in the final quarter for the win.

Madelyn Sweney led the way for Palmyra with seven points while Abbie Frazee and Holly Wilan had six each. Clara Whyman and Marissa Waltke had four each while Jami Gabriel had three.

Pawnee City was led by Krista Menninga’s seven points while Austin Branch and Madison Branek had six each. Reagan deKoning had three points.

Palmyra will play Tri County in the B Division semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Truman Center. Pawnee City will play in the consolation bracket against Parkview Christian Friday at 5 p.m. at the Truman Center.

Diller-Odell 56, Lewiston 27

The Diller-Odell girls took care of business in the first round of the MUDECAS B Division Tournament on Monday.

The top-seeded Lady Griffins defeated eighth-seeded Lewiston 56-27.

Diller-Odell was led by Emily Swanson’s 11 points while Addison Heidemann and Mackenzie Vitosh had nine each, Tori Smith had eight, Mallory Denner and Haley Jones had four each, Camaryn Gydesen and Sam Clifford had three each, Ashtyn Humphreys and Joryn Schultis had two each and Madi Meyerle had one.

Lewiston was led by Dana Christen’s 13 points while Payton Bledsaw had 11 and Dana Chen had three.

With the win, Diller-Odell advances to the B Division semifinals. They’ll play at 5 p.m. on Thursday at SCC against the winner of Monday’s late game between fourth-seeded Johnson County Central and fifth-seeded HTRS. That game wasn’t over by press time Monday night.

Lewiston falls to the loser’s bracket. They’ll play at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at SCC against the loser of HTRS/JCC.
