Quincy livery driver convicted of rape
QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — A livery driver from Quincy has been found guilty of kidnapping, raping and stealing from a passenger who prosecutors say flagged him down in Boston’s Seaport District.
A Suffolk Superior Court jury deliberated for about three hours Tuesday before convicting 41-year-old Said Said. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 1.
Prosecutors say Said, also known as Hashi K. Said, was driving a minivan with livery license plates in June 2014 when a 25-year-old woman flagged him down, thinking his vehicle was a cab. He drove her to a place where no one was around and raped her.
He also stole her iPhone, debit and credit cards and cash.
Said was caught on gas station surveillance video using the woman’s credit and debit cards to make purchases hours after the attack.
