Bird watching is not strictly for the birds
The Southwestern Idaho Birders Association promotes bird watching and encourages environmental conservation. The group recently conducted a Christmas Bird Count at the Deerflat national Wildlife Refuge in Nampa and also schedules field trips for bird watching. The group meets monthly and presents a nature program to attendees.
The January meeting will be at 7 p.m.,Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. The SIBA presentation will be “Birding Eastern Montana: Where East Meets West and Prairie Specialties.” Darren Clark and Steve Butterworth will share photographs of the birds and landscape of eastern Montana and share insights into visiting and birding the region.
SIBA meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. and are held at the Deer Flat NWR Visitor Center at 13751 Upper Embankment Road in Nampa. The entrance is at the corner of Roosevelt Ave. and Indiana Ave. All are welcome to all of the SIBA meetings which last about 1 1/2 hrs. with a refreshment time following the meeting.
