UML Raising Funds for Gym Fix

November 16, 2018

LOWELL -- UMass Lowell is launching a campaign to raise $5 million toward renovations of Costello Athletic Center, officials announced Thursday.

The Center was built in 1967, and although minor updates took place, school leaders say further work is needed as athletic programs transition to Division 1. Planned renovations include creation of a student-athlete lounge called River Hawk Central and, eventually, a new sports performance center.

The school hopes to raise $5 million by 2020 to support the renovations. $1.5 million has been secured already thanks to a contribution from an anonymous donor.
