Mississippi man wanted for killing someone with machete
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Police on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are looking for a man they believed killed someone with a machete.
Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer tells local news outlets that 39-year-old Frederick Plummer of Gulfport was found dead in a wooded area near downtown Gulfport on Sunday.
Police say Plummer was found after an assault was reported. A murder warrant has been issued for 44-year-old Eli Martinez Medina, who police say killed Plummer with a machete.
Medina was previously been arrested in Gulfport in October and held briefly in the Harrison County on a contempt charge for failure to appear in court. The charge was passed to the files, jail records show, often a prelude to charges being later dropped.
Police say they consider Medina armed and dangerous.
