Inkster, De Vicenzo Lead Challenge
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) _ Roberto De Vicenzo and Juli Inkster combined for a better-ball total of 7-under 65 to take the first round lead of the $1 million Hall of Fame Golf Challenge.
De Vicenzo and Inkster combined for five birdies on the front nine and added two more on the back on The Slammer & The Squire course at the World Golf Village.
Inkster accounted for five of the team’s seven birdies.
``I played steady, but it was tough to get the old bones going. It was pretty chilly out there this morning,″ said Inkster, who was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame later in the day.
J.C. Snead and Kathy Whitworth, along with Bob Charles and Joanne Carner, finished two strokes behind the leaders. Johnny Miller and Beth Daniel posted a 4-under 68.
Senior men and women teamed up in the exhibition tournament, with 10 Senior PGA Tour and 10 LPGA Tour members partnered in the 54-hole event.
