Freshman Fans 19 to Break Lowell High Softball Record

Freshman Giana LaCedra fired a 2-hitter and notched a school-record 19 strikeouts while pitching Lowell past Westford Academy, 9-1, in a non-league softball game.

LaCedra helped her own cause at the plate by banging out 2 hits and knocking in a run as the Red Raiders improved to 2-0.

Meara McPhee paced Lowell’s offense with 3 hits and 1 RBI.

Hannah Sheehan, Christina Panagiotopoulos and Mayson Soucy had 2 hits each.

Molly Barrett had a hit and 2 RBI for Lowell.

Pelham 17

Sanborn 1

Abigail Provencal was the winning pitcher, allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 11. She helped her own cause at the plate with 3 RBI.

Kate Fisher blasted a 2-run homer for Pelham (1-0).

Jess Slaton chipped in with 1 hit, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, while Skyy Ortega had 3 hits and scored 3 runs.

Christina Louh added 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Freshman right-hander Kasey Ricard turned in a dominating performance in the circle, limiting Quabbin to 4 hits while recording 13 strikeouts.

Emma Jean Anjoorian drove in what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning.

Meredith Landers walked and scored Littleton’s first run in the first inning. Hannah Cochran had 2 hits for LHS (2-0).

Meghan Goode, Rachel Lalumiere and Emma Gelineau had 2 hits each for Chelmsford in this non-league loss.

Emma Wilson had a run-scoring hit for Groton-Dunstable.

Becca Brennan (double), Cassidy Heulings and Nicolette Sannazzaro had 1 hit each.

Pitcher Jenna Beauchain notched 4 strikeouts.
