Ford Adds Models To Its New Incentive Program

May 1, 1986

DETROIT (AP) _ Ford Motor Co. says it has added several cars and light trucks to its new financing incentive program, including 5.9 percent financing on its Ranger models.

Wednesday’s action was an apparent response to General Motors Corp.’s move last week to lower its new financing rates across the board by 1 percentage point.

Under the new program, all Ranger models will be offered at 5.9 percent on contracts of up to 36 months, Ford said in a statement.

All Escort, Escort EXP, Lynx, Thunderbird and Cougar models will be offered at 6.9 percent financing on 36-month contracts, the statement said.

Models offered for 10.9 percent financing on 60-month contracts include all Escort, Escort EXP, Lynx, Tempo, Topaz, Mustang, Capri, Thunderbird, Cougar, Ranger and Bronco II, F-150 and F-250 models, Ford said.

The new rates, which apply to 1985 and 1986 models, expire July 5, the statement said.

All other incentives announced April 21 by Ford Motor Credit Co. remain in effect, and Ford will continue to maintain present prices on its 1986 cars, the statement said.
