Blizzard warning prompts Huskers-Purdue basketball to move to 1 p.m. tip
The potential blizzard bearing down on Lincoln has forced a change in the tip time for Saturday’s basketball game between Nebraska and Purdue.
Pinnacle Bank Arena gates will now open at 11:30 a.m., which is 90 minutes prior to tipoff.
The city of Lincoln, along with most of eastern Nebraska, is under a blizzard warning starting at noon Saturday and lasting until 3 a.m. Sunday.
The forecast calls for 4-7 inches of wet snow in Lincoln, likely preceded by freezing rain. The city has issued a snow emergency beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, meaning parking is banned on all snow routes, bus and school routes and other arterial streets.
The game will be televised on BTN and carried on the IMG Husker Sports Network and affiliates across the state of Nebraska. It will be available online on the Fox Sports app and BTN2Go.
“The decision was made in consultation with both schools as well as the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network for the safety of the teams and fans,” according to a news release from Nebraska.
Fans who are unable to use their tickets for Saturday’s game are able to reissue their tickets for free by logging into their Huskers.com account and having them delivered straight to their phone or email.
