Marine Aircraft Crashes, 2 Injured

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) _ A military helicopter hovering about five feet above the ground flipped over and crashed Friday at Camp Pendleton, injuring two Marines.

One pilot was hospitalized with minor injuries, said Maj. Stephen Kay, a Marine Corps spokesman. A second pilot suffered very light injuries, he added.

The accident with the Cobra light-attack helicopter occurred at 12:09 p.m. during a routine training exercise at the Marine base north of San Diego, Kay said.

The names of the pilots were not immediately released, and the cause of the accident was under investigation.
