Wealtha E. Schlitt, 97, of Fullerton, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Wolf Memorial in Albion, where she had resided since April, 2018.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, at Fullerton Community Church in Fullerton, with the Rev. Vern Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton. Memorials may be made to the Fullerton Pool Fund, Nance County Foundation, Nance County Veterans’ Memorial, or donor’s choice.

Mrs. Schlitt was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Nance County, to John M. and Ethel M. (Storms) Young. She graduated from Spalding High School in 1939, and then taught in rural schools in Nance and Buffalo Counties. On Aug. 18, 1943, she married Ronald Schlitt in San Francisco. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1945, they returned to Nebraska and farmed north of Fullerton until they moved into assisted living in Fullerton in November, 2010.

She was a homemaker and also employed in the kitchen of the Fullerton Public Schools for 20 years. She was a 4-H leader, charter member of the Wall Street Extension Club, member of the Nance County 4-H Council, officer of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, and a member of the Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church, now the Fullerton Community Church.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Dorothy and Jay Ragsdale of Montgomery, Illinois, Diane and Bob Stopak of Albion, and Patricia and Phil Samuels of Norfolk; a son and his wife, Richard and Lyn Schlitt of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Ronald in 2013, and a son, Ronald Jr. in 2015.
