R. KELLY - INVESTIGATORS

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) — It’s a question many people have been asking since the series “Surviving R. Kelly” aired on Lifetime: Why isn’t anybody doing anything about him? Authorities in R. Kelly’s hometown in Chicago say there is no active investigation of the singer at this time. Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx spoke with reporters yesterday after her office was flooded with calls about the allegations in the documentary. Foxx says she watched the series herself — and found it “deeply, deeply disturbing.” But she says an investigation will depend on whether victims and witnesses come forward with credible evidence of possible wrongdoing.

R. KELLY - MANAGER ACCUSED OF THREATENING MAN INVOLVED IN EXPOSE DOCUMENTARY

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) — It is now up to prosecutors in Georgia to decide whether there is enough evidence to bring charges against R. Kelly’s manager. The probe was begun after a man involved in the R. Kelly documentary series that aired on Lifetime this month says Kelly’s manager, Don Russell, had texted him. Timothy Savage told police the text said it would be best for him and his family if the documentary didn’t air. Authorities say the case has been forwarded to the criminal investigations division for review. The series looks at the singer’s history and allegations he has sexually abused women and girls. Kelly, who is 52, has denied wrongdoing.

KEVIN HART - OSCARS

NEW YORK (AP) — Kevin Hart has said it before and he’s saying it again: He won’t be hosting the Oscars this year. He was asked about the subject today on ABC’s “Good Morning America” — and responded to the question with a simple “No.” Hart says it’s too late to start preparing for the show at this point. Whether he will ever get the gig, Hart says it’s “hard to predict what will happen.” But he says he doesn’t want “people to think there’s a thing” between him and the motion picture academy. Hart backed away from hosting two days after being offered the gig last month — when controversy was reignited over anti-gay tweets he posted a decade ago. He has apologized and now says he isn’t giving any more explanations, saying he’s “just done.”

ROSE McGOWAN - DRUG CASE

LEESBURG, Va. (AP) — One of Harvey Weinstein’s early accusers has taken a plea deal in connection with another case. A lawyer for Rose McGowan — speaking to Washington D.C. radio station WTOP — says the actress will plead no contest to a reduced drug charge. Under the deal, McGowan will serve no jail time, but may have to pay a fine. This stems from an incident in which McGowan was flying to Washington for a protest against the Trump administration. Cocaine was found in a wallet she left aboard the fight. McGowan has said she is innocent — and has suggested in court documents that Weinstein had someone plant the drugs on her to undermine her claim that Weinstein raped her.

NEW YORK (AP) — Cardi B has landed a bunch of nominations for the iHeartRadio Awards. She’s nominated for 13 honors for the event. Drake follows Cardi B with eight nominations and is up for song of the year. FACT-CHECKING PRESIDENT TRUMP

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump spoke English during his national televised TV address last night. But you wouldn’t know it from the number of people who showed up on the tube to “interpret” what the president said. A gaggle of pundits stepped in to correct or challenge Trump’s pronouncements about the need for his proposed border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. One mainstream reporter, ABC’s Cecilia Vega, knocked Trump for not making a solid case for the wall. She said, “Just because you say it’s a crisis doesn’t necessarily make it one”
