DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ A tornado uprooted trees, knocked down power lines and caused minor damage Saturday afternoon.

The twister caused a car accident and one person complained of chest pain afterwards, but there were no serious injuries, said Lt. Michael Mamo of the Deerfield Beach fire department.

Tornado warnings were not issued for Deerfield Beach, which is north of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County.

``It was a relatively isolated storm,'' said Robert Molleda, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for central Florida, but he said the tornado did not develop from that weather system.

``It developed very quickly,'' Molleda said. ``It appears it was a tornado, based on what people saw and some of the damage we've already seen.''
