Man gets life term for killing wife during domestic dispute
PLUMSTED, N.J. (AP) — A husband convicted of fatally stabbing his estranged wife during a domestic dispute has been sentenced to life in prison.
Arthur Haskoor received his sentence Thursday. The 61-year-old Plumsted man had been convicted in June on murder and weapons charges by an Ocean County jury that rejected his claims of self-defense.
Police responding to reports of a disturbance went to Haskoor’s home in August 2015 and found the body of 48-year-old Susan Haskoor in the driveway. A note posted on the front door stated there were guns in the house and that if anybody came in they would be killed.
A camera-equipped robot soon entered the home and found Arthur Haskoor unconscious in the garage. He later admitted attacking his wife of 22 years during an argument over the division of their marital assets.
