POLAND, Maine (AP) — A Maine community is in mourning following a crash that injured a high school athletic director and killed his 24-year-old son.

The Sun Journal reports the crash happened Wednesday on Route 202 in Winthrop. Police say a truck driven by Poland Regional High School Athletic Director Don King, of Mechanic Falls, went out of control and collided with a flatbed driven by 65-year-old Alfred Parks, of Readfield.

Police say King's son, Connor King, died in the crash. Authorities say Don King is in stable condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Officials say Parks and his passenger were treated for injuries.

Connor King attended Saint Joseph's College. He coached high school softball in Poland last year. Friends say King was friendly and always willing to help.
