ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Mets left fielder Benny Agbayani committed three errors, tying a team record, in the first four innings of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Agbayani _ who hadn't made an error this season _ bobbled the ball on pitcher Darryl Kile's single in the second, misplayed Mike Matheny's RBI single in the third, and then overran and made an unsuccessful backhanded stab at the ball on Craig Paquette's single in the fourth.

Several Mets have made three errors in a game. The last to do it was third baseman Lenny Harris on July 27, in the second game of a doubleheader against the Expos.
