Florence gives Aiken County a wet weekend
Florence finally shuffled past Aiken County on Sunday, bringing some more rain and wind.
Mike Proud, meteorologist with the National Weather Center, said Aiken County had less than a tenth of an inch of rain on Sunday.
However, the storm luckily brought no problems like severe flooding or power outages to the area.
Aiken Public Safety reported the day being fairly quiet with no issues from the storm.
Debra Albright, of Aiken, said she felt like the storm was going to be a lot worse than it was.
“I really thought it was going to be bad,” Albright laughed. “But here we are and it’s just wet and a little windy. I got tired of sitting at the house and decided to head downtown for some food.”
As the storm drifts by South Carolina and we move into Monday, residents can expect to see clouds with some sunshine sprinkled in, Proud said.
“There could be some thunderstorms and showers in Aiken County moving into Monday afternoon,” he said.
