Father of Syracuse Coach Dies
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) _ Dante Pasqualoni, father of Syracuse University head football coach Paul Pasqualoni, has died. He was 78.
Pasqualoni, of Cheshire, Conn., died Monday at his home after a long battle with lung cancer. The Syracuse coach was with his father.
Pasqualoni was a successful farmer in Cheshire for nearly a half century and well-known for his corn, tomatoes, strawberries and flowers.
``You’re talking about one of the hardest working human beings you’ve ever seen,″ said Syracuse assistant coach George DeLeone, who has known the Pasqualoni family for nearly 30 years.
``A guy who wouldn’t ask you for a nickel he didn’t earn. You can’t believe what he meant to that family. He was just a special guy. He certainly gave Paul his work ethic,″ he said.
Pasqualoni is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Addario Pasqualoni, four children, and three grandchildren.
