Nashoba’s Swanbon Nets Shutout

Junior goalie Owen Swanbon 23 saves while posting his first shutout of the season as Nashoba Tech blanked Rockport, 4-0, in a Commonwealth Athletic Conference boys hockey game.

Elsewhere, Lowell edged Wayland, 3-2, in an MVC/DCL Division 3 boys hockey game.

Matt Venti paced the Vikings offense with 2 goals and 1 assist.

Connor Lefebrve and Ryan Silva netted 1 goal each for Nashoba Tech (5-7).

Lowell Catholic 6

St. Joseph’s 1

Led by Connor Doherty, who notched 2 goals and 2 assists, the Crusaders rolled over CCL rival St. Joseph’s Prep.

Alex Graves had a goal and two assists, two days after netting his 100th varsity point during a game against Archbishop Williams. David Morey, Mike DiBacco and Mike Brogdon had 2 points each, while James Giblin and Nate Silvia each had one.

Liam Fisher was outstanding on faceoffs and Dom Valente was steady on defense. Colin Gleason and Cody Lesko played solid in goal.

Arlington Catholic 3

Bishop Guertin 2

Arlington Catholic overcame a 2-1 Bishop Guertin lead with two goals in the third period of this non-league game.

Sean Kelley (Dunstable) and Chris Kiely netted BG’s goals. Mark McGaughey (Chelmsford) had 2 assists, while Sam Cronin (Groton) dished out 1 assist and played a strong game on defense.

Nick Hall made 19 saves in goal for BG (6-7, 6-4 N.H. Div. 1).

Tewksbury 2

Westford 2

Will O’Keefe scored the tying goal for Tewksbury midway through the third period of this MVC/DCL cross-over game.

Campbell Pierce notched a goal and assist for the Redmen (8-3-3).

Michael Arsenault chipped in offensively with 2 assists. Patrick Letourneau made 16 saves in goal for Tewksbury.

For Westford, freshman goalie Colin Winn was superb in making 38 saves. The Grey Ghosts (6-6-1) received a one-goal, one-assist effort from Jason Bunyon. Tyler Guillemette also scored.

Kevin Bruskiewitz and Dan Marshall added assists.

Senior Thomas Hassett scored the winning goal with 3:20 left to play as Lowell improved its record to 6-2-1 overall and 2-2 in MVC/DCL Div. 3.

Lowell got goals from Shawn Spring and Brendan DeMarco while overcoming a pair of one goal deficits.

DeMarco and Owen Goulette each notched a pair of assists, while Keegan Cote and Hassett added 1 assist apiece. Senior Patrick Cote made 28 saves in goal.

Groton-Dunstable 8

North Middlesex 1

Will Zinkann scored twice and had 2 assists for the Crusaders (4-5-1), while Tyler Dodge added a pair of goals in the victory at the Wallace Civic Center.

Alex Cianci, Deaglan Garside, Michael Hamill and Nate Glencross also scored.

For North Middlesex (4-5-1), Tyler Riel scored in the first period.

Wilmington 2

Bishop Fenwick 1

The Wildcats defeated a talented Bishop Fenwick team at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington.

Zoey DeRose and Payton Fuller each found the back of the net.

Lia Kourkoutas made nifty passes to set up both goals. Bridget O’Shea also earned an assist.

Billerica/Chelmsford 5

Arlington 3

Sophomore Sam Fantasia continued her excellent play with 3 goals and 1 assist on the road to pace Billerica/Chelmsford’s win.

Kelly Harty and Sophia Balan netted 1 goal each. Sarah Noyes earned the win in goal.

Grace Flanagan and Rylie Jones were standouts on defense for Billerica/Chelmsford (4-5-2).

In other action, Norwood skated past Shawsheen Tech, 4-1.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cambridge 61

Lowell 44

A balanced Cambridge Rindge & Latin attack was too much for Lowell High as the Red Raiders dropped the non-league meeting on the road.

Lowell’s Micheala Martinez was the game’s high scorer with 21 points and added 8 rebounds. Niky Yrrizzary contributed 10 points for LHS.
