What’s going on in Winona? Christmas house tour, holiday crafts sales, ballroom dance and more

Christmas House Tour

The Christmas House Tour is a fundraiser for the Winona County History Center and features a tour of numerous houses decked out in holiday cheer from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 members and $15 public and are available only at the History Center in advance or the day of.

The tour offers a rare look into the privately owned historic, and sometimes more modern, residences in Winona. This self-guided tour can be done in any order and tickets include a guide booklet, map and a bag for your shoes.

Holiday craft sales

If you’re looking for some opportunities to do some holiday shopping, Winona has you covered. There are four different holiday craft sales happening this weekend across town.

There’s the Artisan Winter Wonderland from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Polish Museum Morrison Annex Building which will include more than 20 local artists with a wide selection of pottery, jewelry, soap, stained glass, dreamcatchers, purses, wooden art, and much more. There’s also the 25 annual Artists Holiday Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Winona Arts Center which will be a sale full of fine arts and crafts by eight area artists. There will also be food available and a number of Christmas themed readings and holiday music performances.

Then on Sunday is the second annual Stocking Stuffer Sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the East End Recreation Center. That will feature more than 40 vendors with all kinds of cool things to stuff into those stockings. Santa will be there and there’s the opportunity to join the American Legion Riders for lunch. Also on Sunday is the Artisan Market’s holiday sale from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Island City Brewing giving attendees the perfect place to sip on some beer and do some local shopping.

Holiday ballroom dance

It’s time to celebrate the season with a bit of ballroom dancing. The River City Ballroom Dancers are hosting a holiday dance from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Winona Athletic Club.

There will also be a dance lesson at the beginning of the event from 7 to 8 p.m. in which attendees will learn the waltz and foxtrot. After that the dance will begin at 8 p.m. and will feature live music. No dance experience is required, casual attire is encouraged, and couples and singles of all ages are welcome. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students.

Gift Shop Hop, Saturday and Sunday across town at local gift shops, including Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Polish Cultural Institute & Museum, Watkins Museum, Winona Arts Center, the Visitor Center, and History Center. The event will include chances to win prizes, refreshments and discounts on various items.
