Montana judge running for re-election submits resignation

September 12, 2018

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) — A northern Montana judge running for re-election is planning to step down following the November election.

The Havre Daily News reports 12th District Court Judge Dan Boucher submitted his resignation last week, going into effect Nov. 9 — three days after the election.

Boucher was not available to provide comment to the newspaper Tuesday.

Boucher is the only candidate for the judgeship based in Havre. He was appointed to the office in November 2010, replacing Judge Dave Rice.

Boucher ran unopposed in 2012 to retain the seat.

The governor will appoint a replacement after the state Judicial Nomination Commission sends a list of three to five nominees.
